Wallpaper - Woodland Moth Gingham

Our Woodland Moth Gingham wallpaper, created by Danhui Nai, brings together a detailed naturalist sketch and a classic checked backdrop. At the center sits an illustrated moth within an oval medallion frame, rendered with delicate line work that captures the wing patterns, feathery antennae, and shaded details reminiscent of vintage biological field studies. Surrounding this central emblem is an all-over gingham check in muted brown and warm beige tones, giving the composition an orderly yet rustic character. Produced as made-to-measure murals, our PVC-free wallpapers combine graphic structure with cottage-inspired warmth.

In the room

Because of its prominent central medallion and symmetrical composition, we see this wall mural working particularly well on a main feature wall where the central illustration can serve as a focal point. In a bedroom, placing the motif behind the headboard anchors the space, while in a cozy dining room or study, it establishes a vintage, botanical library feel. The small-scale gingham grid provides visual texture across wider expanses, but giving the central oval room to breathe helps the detailed moth illustration stand out without competing with tall furniture.

Styling it

To complement the naturalist aesthetic of this design, we recommend keeping surrounding elements grounded in rustic or traditional textures:

• Pair with warm, dark or mid-tone wood furniture, such as walnut or aged pine, which naturally echoes the earthy browns of the gingham pattern.
• Choose quiet, tactile upholstery and bedding in natural linen, unbleached cotton, or wool in warm neutral tones to maintain a calm, collected atmosphere without introducing clashing patterns.
• Incorporate simple antique or vintage decorative pieces, like aged ceramic vessels, botanical books, or muted bronze metal accents, to reinforce the study-inspired feel.

Colour combinations

The palette of our mural wallpaper is rooted in earthy, tonal neutrals, featuring warm taupe, sepia brown, and soft antique beige. To build around it, we suggest pulling in complementary warm off-whites or soft parchment shades for adjacent walls and trim. Muted olive greens, burnt ochre accents, or deep espresso tones in furniture and textiles work beautifully alongside these shades, enhancing the woodland atmosphere while keeping the overall room calm and cohesive.
