Wallpaper - Sinuous Ceres, Midnight Ebony

Designed by Marta Cortese, our Sinuous Ceres, Midnight Ebony wallpaper brings an upward sweep of wild grasses and delicate botanical stems into high contrast against a deep black background. We love how the composition layers tall, flowing blades in warm wheat and soft ochre with finer seed heads above, creating an organic rhythm that draws the eye upward. The rich ebony backdrop gives the botanical illustration a dramatic, modern edge while keeping the subject grounded in nature. Like all our mural wallpapers, this design is made-to-measure to your dimensions and printed on PVC-free paper with a subtle surface texture.

In the room

Because the botanical elements rise dynamically from the lower edge, we find this design works exceptionally well along uninterrupted walls in a dining room, living room, or bedroom. Placing it behind a low-backed sofa or as a statement wall behind a bed allows the denser foliage at the base to anchor the space while the lighter, airy seed heads fan out toward the top. In an entryway or hallway, the upward movement gives the space a sense of height. For deeper wall murals like this one, generous daylight brings out the subtle shifts in the golden grass tones, while warm evening lamps accentuate the contrast against the dark background.

Styling it

To complement the rich contrast of the motif, we suggest pairing this wallpaper with furniture that shares its warm, natural character. Darker wood tones such as walnut or smoked oak echo the depth of the ebony ground, while natural cane or lighter oak can highlight the warm wheat hues of the illustrated grasses.

When choosing accent pieces, keep surrounding decor relatively quiet and sculptural. Matte black finishes, unlacquered brass hardware, and neutral upholstery in oatmeal or charcoal allow the intricate line work of the mural to command attention without overwhelming the room.

Colour combinations

The motif itself is defined by a striking palette of midnight black, soft sand, and warm ochre tones. When selecting surrounding wall paint, trim, or large textiles, we recommend working with either end of this tonal range. Off-black or deep charcoal on adjacent walls or baseboards creates an enveloping, unified feel. Alternatively, warm off-whites, soft biscuit, or muted taupe provide a gentle contrast that reflects the lighter leaves within our wallpaper.
