Wallpaper - Sinuous Ceres, Slate Blue

Our Sinuous Ceres wallpaper in Slate Blue, designed by Marta Cortese, captures the undulating movement of tall grasses and delicate meadow seeds set against a deep, moody slate background. We love the dramatic contrast between the warm wheat and ochre tones of the botanical stems and the cool depth of the blue ground. The vertical composition draws the eye upwards, creating a natural sense of height while bringing an organic, grounding presence to the wall. Like all our wall murals, this design is made-to-measure to fit your room dimensions, printed on PVC-free paper with a subtle physical structure.

In the room

We see this mural wallpaper working particularly well in spaces where you want to create an intimate, cocooning atmosphere. In a bedroom, placing it behind the headboard grounds the space beautifully, allowing the taller, delicate seed heads to rise up naturally around sleeping areas. In a dining room or living room, we would recommend giving it a wider uninterrupted wall so the sweeping flow and density of the grasses can unfold across the room. The darker background gives the design depth in low evening light, while daylight highlights the gentle tonal layering within the leaves and stems.

Styling it

Because the botanical illustration has such rich visual movement and high contrast, we like pairing it with quieter surrounding interior elements. Low-profile furniture works especially well here, keeping the lower stems visible without cutting off the vertical rhythm. Warm wood finishes like walnut or dark-stained oak pick up on the golden undertones in the grasses, while clean architectural lines balance the fluid, organic lines of the illustration. Matte black accents or deep blue upholstery can also help tie the room back into the slate backdrop without competing for attention.

Colour combinations

The design is built around warm straw, beige, and golden ochre tones set against a muted dark slate blue. To build a cohesive palette around this wallpaper, we suggest pulling the deep slate blue onto adjoining walls or window trim for an immersive, enveloping feel. If you prefer a lighter, more open balance, soft warm neutrals like oat, sand, or muted cream on surrounding painted walls will echo the lighter botanical blades while letting the mural take center stage.
