Wallpaper - Common Cruiser Butterfly

Our Common Cruiser Butterfly wallpaper, created by Mackenzie Nelson, presents a large, painterly study of an open-winged butterfly set against a clean, off-white background. Rendered in rich ochre, warm brown, and deep espresso tones, the artwork highlights delicate wing markings, layered brush strokes, and subtle shadow details that give the motif a striking presence on the wall. Made-to-measure to fit your room dimensions on our PVC-free paper with a subtle surface structure, it works beautifully as a focal point in spaces that welcome natural motifs and artistic character.

In the room

Because of the scale of the central butterfly motif, we love using this design on an open, relatively uninterrupted wall where the full wing span can be appreciated without being broken up by tall cabinetry or heavy shelving. It makes a distinctive statement behind a sofa in a living room, as an accent wall behind a low bed frame in a bedroom, or in an entryway where its graphic presence sets a welcoming tone right away. In dining spaces or a study, placing it on a primary feature wall allows the warm, earthy tones to ground the entire room while keeping the surrounding space feeling airy.

Styling it

The warm ochre and amber hues in the butterfly pair naturally with mid-toned or darker wood furniture, such as walnut or warm teak, which echoes the depth of the wing markings. Because the artwork itself carries expressive brushwork and strong character, we recommend keeping surrounding decor simple and sculptural. Earthenware ceramics, textured matte pottery, and soft, unpatterned fabrics in cream, sand, or taupe help balance the central graphic without competing with it.

Color combinations

The dominant palette in our wallpaper features warm ochre, golden brown, deep chocolate, and soft charcoal brown accents, all resting against a warm off-white backdrop. When choosing paint or accents for neighboring walls, creamy off-whites and warm sands create a cohesive, light-filled flow. For a moodier, more enveloping feel, pulling deep espresso, cocoa, or muted olive green into adjacent trim, woodwork, or accent upholstery brings out the richest undertones of the illustration.
