Wallpaper - Desert Wandering

Our Desert Wandering wallpaper mural, created by Pamela Munger, captures an expansive landscape with rolling hills, desert brush, and an open, painterly sky. Broad, visible brushstrokes and soft washes of dusty rose, warm taupe, sage green, and hints of muted lavender give the scenic composition a quiet, expressive quality. The horizontal landscape structure creates a panoramic horizon across the room while retaining the look of an original landscape painting. Made to measure to your exact wall dimensions, our PVC-free wallpapers are printed on paper with a subtle surface texture that brings depth to every brush mark.

In the room

Because the motif is built around a wide, panoramic horizon, we especially like this design on a wider uninterrupted wall in a living room, bedroom, or dining area. Giving the mural space allows the full expanse of the mountains and the foreground desert greenery to unfold naturally across the room. In a bedroom, placing the wallpaper behind a low headboard lets the distant ridgeline sit comfortably above eye level, anchoring the entire space without feeling crowded. The balanced mix of warm earth tones and cooler green accents also works beautifully in an open-plan living area where natural daylight highlights the nuanced transitions in the painted sky and foothills.

Styling it

We recommend pairing this scenic design with simple, grounded furnishings that let the painterly landscape remain the main focal point. Low-profile furniture in natural oak, bleached wood, or warm walnut complements the earthy base of the mural without competing with its horizontal lines.

For surrounding materials, soft woven textiles like undyed linen drapery or a low-pile wool rug in sand or cream help echo the gentle terrain. Matte ceramics in terracotta or pale stone and subtle blackened iron accents bring subtle definition that balances the soft, impressionistic brushwork.

Color combinations

The palette in our wallpaper brings together muted desert tones including dusty blush, sandy beige, warm taupe, and pale lavender, grounded by olive and sage greens in the foreground foliage.

To create a cohesive scheme, we suggest pulling from these undertones for adjacent walls and trim. A soft off-white, warm greige, or pale sand creates a seamless, airy surround, while a deeper muted olive or warm clay on architectural trim or built-in cabinetry adds rich, grounded contrast.
