Wallpaper - Saraband

Our Saraband wallpaper pairs an intricate historic floral repeat with a deep, moody dark background. Created by Imary, the design draws inspiration from classic Victorian tapestries and baroque florals, interweaving red, pink, and white roses and poppies with soft green foliage against rich burgundy and dark undertones. The painterly detail gives the composition the visual depth of historic textile art while maintaining a balanced rhythm across the wall. Produced as custom made-to-measure mural wallpapers, each order is printed on PVC-free paper with a subtle surface structure that complements the painterly character of the motif.

In the room

We see this design working beautifully in a bedroom, dressing room, or powder room where its enveloping palette and classic botanical motifs can create an intimate setting. Across a larger bedroom wall behind a bed, the repeat brings an understated drama without feeling chaotic. In more compact spaces like a powder room or dressing area, wallpapering the entire room creates a jewel-box effect where the contrast between the dark backdrop and vivid florals becomes a central design element.

Styling it

Because the pattern carries a rich visual presence, we like balancing it with understated furniture and refined finishes. Darker wood tones such as walnut or mahogany harmonize naturally with the historic Victorian feel, while unlacquered brass hardware or antique bronze accents pick up on the warm undertones of the blooms. For larger textiles, solid colors drawn from the wallpaper, like deep burgundy, muted olive, or off-white, keep the room cohesive without competing with the detailed floral composition.

Color combinations

The motif is built on a foundation of dark burgundy and near-black grounds accented with red, soft pink, crisp white, and muted leaf greens. When selecting surrounding wall paint, trim, or cabinetry, consider deep charcoal or rich espresso to extend the wallpaper's moody character. Alternatively, a softer off-white or muted warm neutral provides a clean contrast that lets the floral elements stand out clearly.
