Wallpaper - Wellie Season

Our Wellie Season wallpaper, created by Kate Jarvik Birch, captures a playful rainy-day scene with bold red rain boots standing in a rippling puddle. Floating autumn leaves, painterly water reflections, and deep slate-blue ripples give the composition a charming, illustrated character. What we particularly like is how the vibrant red boots bring an instant focal point against the cooler teal and dark gray water tones. Printed as a made-to-measure, PVC-free wall mural, this design brings an engaging illustrative look to family spaces, mudrooms, or entryways.

In the room

In an entryway, mudroom, or children's bedroom, this wall mural creates an immediate story on the wall. We especially like giving this design an uninterrupted wall where the full reflection and water ripples have room to spread out. Because the boots sit in the upper-left quadrant and the ripples cascade downward, placing lower furniture like a simple bench beneath it still leaves the primary subject clearly visible.

In smaller spaces like a powder room or laundry room, the rich contrast between the bright red boots and dark reflective water brings a bold, characterful presence without needing additional wall art.

Styling it

When styling around this wallpaper, we suggest keeping surrounding elements grounded to let the illustrative mural carry the visual focus. Warm, natural wood finishes on a hallway bench or shelving complement the scattered orange autumn leaves in the water. For hardware or lighting fixtures, matte black accents echo the dark silhouettes and line work within the puddle reflections, keeping the overall look cohesive and balanced.

Color combinations

The artwork centers on a vibrant poppy red balanced by cool slate blue, deep teal, and charcoal water tones, alongside warm ochre and rusty orange autumn leaves. For adjacent painted walls and trim, softer neutrals such as muted slate gray, warm off-white, or an earthy terracotta work beautifully. Deep navy or charcoal cabinetry can also pick up the darker reflections in the puddle for a richer, more enveloping feel.
