Wallpaper - A Blue Note Butterfly I

Our A Blue Note Butterfly I wallpaper presents a finely detailed butterfly study set against a warm, soft beige ground. Designed by Lisa Audit, the motif centers on the symmetrical wings rendered in delicate sepia and taupe tones, featuring eye-like markings and fine ink-style linework. The backdrop carries a subtle aged visual texture that lends depth and quiet vintage character to the overall composition. Produced made-to-measure on our PVC-free paper with a slight physical structure, this design brings an understated artistic presence to any interior wall.

In the room

Because the butterfly motif has an illustrative, specimen-like quality, we see this working particularly well as a focal point in a bedroom, study, or dressing room. On a wall behind a bed or centered along an open wall in a home office, the central composition has enough room to breathe without competing with surrounding architectural details. In a library or living room, it introduces an organic focal element that feels grounded and calm. The balanced sepia tones keep the visual weight light, making it suitable for compact reading nooks as well as larger dining room walls where you want a piece of wall art that does not overpower the room.

Styling it

The heritage, botanical-study feel of the artwork pairs naturally with classic English country and vintage-inspired interiors. We would balance the delicate ink linework with warm, natural materials:

• Pair with warm wood furniture, such as antique pine, warm oak, or stained walnut, which echoes the sepia and taupe tones in the wings.
• Introduce textured upholstery and drapery in unbleached linen or soft wool to complement the quiet, natural feel of the backdrop.
• Add muted brass or patinated bronze hardware and lighting fixtures to gently pick up on the warm, aged character of the print.

Color combinations

The primary palette of our wallpaper consists of soft beige, taupe, and deep sepia brown. Around the design, we recommend pulling in warm off-whites, parchment, and soft stone on adjacent walls and trim to keep the atmosphere airy and unified. If you want to introduce subtle contrast, muted earth tones such as dusty olive, warm fawn, or antique charcoal work well on cabinetry, baseboards, or accent furniture without overwhelming the fine details of the motif.
