Wallpaper - Afternoon Nap

Illustrated by Kate Jarvik Birch, our Afternoon Nap wallpaper captures a ginger tabby curled up in a sunlit corner on a green cushion. Painted brushwork, rich terracotta and amber tones, and deep charcoal shadows give the composition a vivid, artistic character with plenty of visual depth. What we particularly like is the intimate perspective and the interplay between the warm cat, the mossy green tones, and the strong diagonal framing. Printed as a made-to-measure, PVC-free wall mural, this design brings a charming narrative focus to any interior wall while being straightforward to hang.

In the room

Because of its expressive scale and pictorial composition, we see this wall mural working especially well on an accent wall in a living room, bedroom, reading nook, or study. Giving the artwork a clear, relatively uninterrupted wall allows the full diagonal composition and rich shadows to take center stage. In a bedroom or cozy sitting room, placing it behind a low bed frame or beside an armchair creates an inviting, characterful focal point without overwhelming the surrounding space.

Styling it

We recommend letting the painterly artwork anchor the room while keeping surrounding elements grounded and tactile:

• Pair with warm, natural wood finishes such as mid-tone oak or teak to echo the sunny amber and terracotta brushstrokes.
• Introduce textured upholstery and cushions in soft sage, olive, or warm neutral weaves that complement the green seat cushion in the motif.
• Keep wall decor on adjacent walls quiet and minimal so the expressive diagonal lines of the mural remain the primary visual focus.

Color combinations

The artwork features a dynamic palette of ginger orange, warm terracotta, white, moss green, and deep charcoal black. When choosing paint or accents for neighboring surfaces, we love pulling out the deeper green tones for adjacent walls or trim to create an enveloping feel. For a lighter contrast, warm off-white or soft linen tones allow the vibrant amber highlights of the cat to stand out with warmth and clarity.
