Wallpaper - Moonlit Garden II

Designed by Katie Pertiet, our Moonlit Garden II wallpaper brings a vintage entomological study to life through layered collage and delicate botanical details. At the center sits a finely detailed butterfly with pale blue wings framed by deep charcoal veining, resting over aged parchment textures, delicate script, and faded botanical leaves. The muted background of antique cream, sepia stains, and soft tan creates a quiet, nostalgic atmosphere on the wall. Produced as a made-to-measure mural on PVC-free paper with a subtle surface structure, this design is simple to hang and creates an immediate focal point in any room.

In the room

Because of its centered collage composition and delicate fine lines, we see this wall mural working especially well on a main focal wall where the central motif has space to breathe. In a bedroom, it serves naturally behind a headboard, setting a calm, historic tone without overwhelming the room. It also works beautifully in a quiet home office, study, or reading nook, where the intricate typography and subtle foliage can be appreciated up close. If you are decorating a dining room or guest bedroom, positioning the mural along a wider, relatively uninterrupted wall lets the surrounding ink splatters and parchment edges frame the room with understated elegance.

Styling it

To complement the vintage, archival character of the mural, we suggest pairing it with furniture and accents that share a thoughtful, timeless feel.

• Pair the wallpaper with dark wood or warm antique furniture, such as a vintage desk or a carved wood bed frame, to echo the sepia tones and aged paper aesthetic.
• Introduce soft, unbleached linen textiles in curtains or bedding to harmonize with the cream backdrop and keep the overall room feeling soft and tactile.
• Incorporate subtle black metal or antique bronze lighting fixtures, which pick up on the deep charcoal details in the butterfly wings and vintage lettering.

Color combinations

The design itself is built on a soft palette of antique cream, warm beige, sepia, and dusty charcoal, accented with pale icy blue in the butterfly wings and muted sage green in the foliage. When selecting paint colors for adjacent walls or trim, off-white, warm stone, or soft greige provide a seamless transition that keeps the space light and airy. For a moodier, more tailored look, pulling the deep charcoal from the wing outlines or a muted olive green from the leaves onto surrounding doors, baseboards, or built-in shelving adds rich contrast while tying the whole room together.
