Wallpaper - Sumi Current, Fossil

In our Sumi Current, Fossil wallpaper, a drifting school of fish moves across a softly textured, stone-toned backdrop. We designed this motif with an ink-wash, watercolor-like character, giving the fish subtle variations in opacity and depth as they flow across the composition in a gentle wave. The palette centers on quiet fossil gray, warm greige, and soft parchment tones, creating a calm visual rhythm rather than a sharp graphic contrast. Like all of our wallpapers, it is custom made-to-measure on PVC-free paper with a subtle physical surface structure.

In the room

Because the movement in this design flows horizontally across the wall, we especially like it along a wider, uninterrupted surface where the full motion of the school can be seen. In an open living room or running behind a low headboard in a bedroom, the muted tones allow the pattern to feel present without dominating the entire space. It also works beautifully in a long hallway or entryway, where the directional composition naturally carries the eye through the interior.

Styling it

We recommend keeping the surrounding furnishings low in profile and understated in form so they do not compete with the horizontal flow of the motif. Low-slung seating, clean-lined consoles, and unadorned surfaces let the movement across the wall remain the central focus.
