Wallpaper - Dreams Of The Savannah

Our Dreams Of The Savannah wallpaper, created by Kate Jarvik Birch, captures a restful lion reclining across an intricately patterned red and blue rug beneath a clear blue sky. The painted-looking composition balances the rich, warm amber and chocolate tones of the lion's mane with the vivid geometric swirls of the floor covering and cool architectural background. What we particularly appreciate about this mural wallpaper is its narrative warmth and bold illustrative presence, bringing a distinctive storybook character to a room. Our wallpapers are made-to-measure according to your supplied wall dimensions and printed on PVC-free paper with a subtle physical structure.

In the room

Because of the scale of the resting lion and the horizontal nature of the composition, we would place this design on a wider, uninterrupted wall where the full artwork can unfold without being heavily cut off. It works beautifully as an accent wall in a living room, dining area, or creative study, grounding the space with its rich tones and relaxed posture.

In a bedroom or a cozy guest room, positioning this wallpaper behind a low headboard or along the main focal wall creates an inviting, serene atmosphere. The balance of deep terracotta reds, warm ochre, and sky blue gives the mural enough contrast to hold visual weight across a large room while still feeling welcoming and calm.

Styling it

The rich painted character of the artwork pairs naturally with warm interior elements that complement its palette:

• Pair the warm amber and terracotta tones with natural wood furniture, such as warm oak or walnut, which echoes the organic warmth of the lion's coat.
• Keep surrounding upholstery and large furniture relatively understated, choosing solid neutral fabrics or soft leather so the intricate pattern of the rug in the mural remains the primary visual focal point.
• Balance the warm red base by pulling in subtle slate blue or soft sky-blue accents in ceramics, cushions, or artwork on adjacent walls to harmonize with the backdrop.

Color combinations

The artwork features a palette of terracotta red, sky blue, warm ochre, golden amber, and deep brown. When choosing paint or materials for adjacent surfaces, we suggest working with warm off-whites, soft creams, or muted stone tones to keep the surrounding space bright while letting the mural take center stage. For a moodier, more enveloping feel, a deep rust or a dusky blue pulled directly from the rug pattern creates a rich, cohesive setting.
