Wallpaper - Spot Swordtail Butterfly

Our Spot Swordtail Butterfly wallpaper, created by Mackenzie Nelson, showcases a striking butterfly study rendered in rich black, charcoal, and warm off-white tones against a soft, creamy beige backdrop. The painted-looking texture in the wings and background gives the central motif a natural, illustrative presence with visible brushstroke details. The graphic contrast of the winged pattern draws focus instantly while the muted neutral field keeps the overall composition balanced. Like all our wallpapers, this design is made-to-measure to fit your wall dimensions and is completely PVC-free.

In the room

We love how this wall mural functions as a distinct focal point in a room. Because the butterfly is centered with generous surrounding negative space, it works exceptionally well on an accent wall behind a low bed frame in a bedroom or above a credenza in a living room. In a quiet study or guest room, giving this design an uninterrupted wall allows the detailed brushwork and graphic wing markings to be appreciated up close without feeling crowded by taller furniture.

Styling it

To complement the graphic nature of our mural wallpapers, we suggest pairing this design with furniture that carries clean lines and thoughtful proportions.

• Introduce warm, natural wood finishes such as mid-tone oak or walnut to echo the warm, painterly undertones of the cream background.
• Select upholstery and textiles in soft, tactile fabrics like woven linen or boucle in ivory, oatmeal, or charcoal to build subtle material depth around the wall.
• Balance the strong black linework in the butterfly wings with delicate black iron or dark bronze accents in lighting fixtures or side tables.

Color combinations

The core palette of our wallpaper centers on crisp off-white, deep charcoal black, and a gentle vanilla-cream background. Around it, we recommend working with surrounding wall colors in warm bone, muted linen, or soft sand to let the wallpaper integrate seamlessly into the space. For a bolder, more grounded interior, deep charcoal or espresso accents on adjacent trim or cabinetry can pick up the graphic details of the butterfly while maintaining a refined look.
