Wallpaper - Spread The Love

Designed by Kate Jarvik Birch, our Spread The Love wallpaper brings an expressive, painterly still life to the wall. The composition captures a block of butter resting on crinkled paper alongside a silver butter knife, rendered with visible brushwork, rich gouache-like gouaches, and bold tonal contrast. A saturated cerulean and sky blue backdrop sets off the luminous yellow, golden ochre, and warm amber tones of the butter, while the reflective blade catches hints of surrounding light. Made to measure on our PVC-free paper with a subtle surface texture, this design works as a striking, food-inspired focal point.

In the room

We love seeing this wall mural in spaces where dining, food, and gathering take center stage. In a kitchen, breakfast nook, or dining room, the oversized scale transforms an everyday culinary moment into a confident piece of contemporary art. Because the composition has strong graphic presence and a distinct horizontal plane, we think it performs best on an accent wall where the motif has breathing room, such as across from a dining table or above a kitchen banquette.

Styling it

The rich, saturated colors and bold painterly aesthetic give this wallpaper a playful yet refined personality. We recommend keeping adjacent elements grounded so the artwork remains the primary focus.

• Pair with warm wood dining furniture, like oiled oak or walnut, to echo the golden amber tones in the butter.
• Bring in clean, functional accents in chrome or polished stainless steel that reference the vintage butter knife.
• Keep surrounding tableware and lighting simple in off-white ceramics and minimalist silhouettes to balance the expressive brushwork.

Color combinations

The artwork centers around a striking balance of warm and cool tones, featuring rich buttery yellow, golden ochre, warm amber, creamy off-white, and deep cerulean blue with subtle grey and silver accents. To style the surrounding room, soft cream or warm linen-white walls keep the atmosphere light while allowing the blue backdrop of the mural to pop. Alternatively, picking up on the cooler tones with a muted slate blue or deep navy on adjacent walls creates a more enveloping, dramatic dining setting.
