Wallpaper - Food Phrases II

Created by Becky Thorns, our Food Phrases II wallpaper brings a bold, hand-lettered typographic statement to the wall. The composition centers on the expressive brush-style lettering "eat & drink", framed by minimalist line-drawn silhouettes of a wine glass, spoon, fork, and knife. Rendered in a deep ink-navy blue against a soft off-white cream backdrop, the high-contrast graphic style feels casual, modern, and warmly inviting. Like all of our wallpapers, this design is made-to-measure and PVC-free, with a subtle structure in the paper that gives the finished wall a refined presence.

In the room

We love seeing this design make a statement in dining rooms, eat-in kitchens, breakfast nooks, or open-plan culinary spaces. Because the graphic elements and lettering are prominent and carry distinct visual scale, we recommend placing it on an accent wall where the motif can be viewed comfortably as a whole. A wall beside a dining table, behind a banquette, or framing a kitchen seating zone allows the artwork to set an inviting tone without feeling overwhelmed by tall upper cabinetry.

In spaces with ample daylight, the clean contrast between the deep blue linework and the warm cream background remains sharp and readable. Under warm ambient evening light or low-hanging dining pendants, the backdrop takes on a cozy, relaxed warmth that fits social dinners and shared meals naturally.

Styling it

Because this design has a graphic, typographic focus, we suggest balancing it with understated furniture and clean silhouettes. Modern dining furniture in natural oak, birch, or painted matte finishes complements the casual art-print feel of the motif without competing for attention.

To keep the room grounded, pair the wall mural with simple ceramic dishware, dark iron or matte black accents, and unfussy neutral linens. Keeping nearby wall decor minimal gives the lettering and tableware illustrations space to serve as the visual centerpiece of the room.

Color combinations

The design itself is built on a crisp pairing of deep navy blue and a warm, creamy off-white. When choosing colors for adjacent walls and surrounding trim, consider these directions:

A soft, warm off-white or light linen paint on neighboring walls extends the background seamlessly and keeps the room bright and open.

Deep navy or charcoal blue on surrounding woodwork, doors, or lower kitchen cabinets creates a rich, intentional connection to the ink-like brushstrokes in the mural wallpapers.

Muted earthy accents like warm terracotta, ochre, or olive green in cushions, table ceramics, or small decor pieces add warmth without clashing with the two-tone palette.
