Wallpaper - First Peony

Created by Krystal Adams, our First Peony wallpaper brings a painterly still life to the wall with expressive brushwork and rich floral color. The composition centers on a single open peony bloom held in a small glass jar, rendered with visible painted textures, deep wine-red and ruby petals, and soft blush tones across the background. We make our mural wallpapers made-to-measure on PVC-free paper with a subtle physical surface structure, creating a distinct focal point in any room.

In the room

Because this design is composed as a single still-life artwork, we see it working beautifully as an accent wall in a bedroom, dining area, or entryway. Giving the wallpaper a relatively uninterrupted wall allows the full silhouette of the vase and blooming petals to be appreciated without being broken up by tall furniture. In a bedroom behind a headboard or along a dining wall, the rich crimson and warm pink background create an intimate, welcoming atmosphere.

Styling it

The expressive painted character of this wallpaper pairs naturally with relaxed, contemporary, or vintage-inspired interiors. We would balance the bold floral motif by keeping large surrounding furniture simple in form.

• Choose warm wood tones or painted furniture in muted ivory or soft grey to let the deeper tones of the blossom stand out.
• Soft, natural upholstery in neutral tones keeps the space grounded while allowing the floral artwork to remain the central focus.
• Warm ambient lighting in the evening enhances the deeper berry and burgundy shades in the petals.

Color combinations

Our wallpaper features deep crimson, plum, and raspberry in the flower head, balanced by soft muted pink, gentle lilac, and sage green stems against a blush background. For surrounding walls and trim, warm off-whites, dusty rose, or soft taupe echo the background tones naturally. If you prefer more contrast, deep wine tones or muted olive accents on woodwork or decorative pieces bring out the darker layers of the painting.
