Wallpaper - Darling Clementine

Created in collaboration with artist Julia Purinton, our Darling Clementine wallpaper brings the timeless warmth of a classic oil still life to an interior wall. Three luminous clementines, complete with leafy stems and painterly brushwork, rest against a deep, moody backdrop of shadowy charcoal, taupe, and earthy umber tones. The rich contrast between the vivid citrus fruit and the muted background creates an inviting, artful focal point. Like all our mural wallpapers, this design is made to measure and printed on PVC-free paper with a subtle surface texture.

In the room

We love seeing this wall mural used where its painterly depth can anchor the entire space. It works wonderfully as a feature wall in a dining room, kitchen dining nook, or living room, especially when placed on an uninterrupted wall behind a dining table, low credenza, or sofa. The dark background allows the bright oranges to stand out cleanly, giving the room a cozy, intimate atmosphere that feels grounded and considered.

In smaller spaces like a cozy study, entryway, or powder room, wallpapering across a primary accent wall introduces rich color and artistic character without overwhelming the room. Under softer evening lamplight or warm directional lighting, the painted highlights across the citrus peel and deep foliage glow beautifully.

Styling it

Because this design carries such distinct painterly texture and rich pigment, we recommend keeping surrounding furniture relatively calm and grounded. Warm natural wood furniture, such as walnut, teak, or stained oak, complements the earthy undertones of the tabletop in the artwork, while matte black metal or aged bronze accents pick up on the deep background.

For accompanying fabrics, simple woven textures in neutral ecru, muted moss green, or soft terracotta echo the organic elements of the painting without competing with the central fruit motif.

Color combinations

The artwork features a striking palette of vibrant mandarin orange, warm apricot, sage, and deep forest green, grounded by shadowy taupe, charcoal, and warm sepia tones.

To build a cohesive room around this wallpaper, we suggest pairing it with surrounding wall colors in warm stone, soft off-white, or muted olive green on adjacent surfaces or trim. If you prefer a richer, more enveloping look, pulling out the background's deep charcoal or espresso tones for nearby cabinetry, shelving, or woodwork creates an effortlessly dramatic, collected feel.
