Wallpaper - Scintilla, Blue Slate

Our Scintilla, Blue Slate wallpaper pairs a quiet, slate blue backdrop with subtle drifting layers of stippled, painterly visual texture. What we particularly like about this design is its gentle, cloud-like movement: fine speckled markings shift softly across muted grey-blue tones, giving the wall understated depth without demanding immediate focus. It acts almost like a textured wash of colour, introducing calm visual movement while remaining wonderfully versatile. Like all our wallpapers, it is custom made-to-measure on PVC-free paper with a subtle surface structure, making it straightforward to hang.

In the room

Because the contrast is low and the movement is so soft, this wallpaper works beautifully across all four walls rather than being limited to an accent wall. In a bedroom, we find it creates an enveloping, tranquil backdrop behind a headboard and side tables without competing with bed linens or lighting.

It is equally well suited to a living room, dining area, or home office where you want an alternative to flat paint that still leaves plenty of room for artwork and bookshelves. In rooms with generous daylight, the delicate shifts in slate and grey-blue tones become more pronounced, while under warm ambient evening light, the design settles into a unified, moody tone.

Styling it

We would keep the surrounding decor relatively clean and tactile to complement the wallpaper's soft texture. The cool slate blue tone forms a natural backdrop for warm wood furniture, such as natural oak or richer walnut, which brings an earthy balance to the room.

For upholstery and curtains, off-white, oat, or charcoal textiles provide a relaxed contrast. You can also introduce understated metal details like brushed brass or blackened iron on lighting and hardware to give the space a grounded, contemporary edge.

Colour combinations

The design itself is built from cool slate blue, soft denim, and muted blue-grey tones.

When choosing colours for surrounding walls, woodwork, or built-in cabinetry, we love pairing it with soft warm whites or chalky greiges to keep the atmosphere airy and balanced. If you prefer a richer, more monochromatic look, deeper navy, charcoal, or dark blue-grey on the skirting boards and doors create a sophisticated, tailored feel. For smaller accent touches, warm ochre, terracotta, or muted olive provide a natural, complementary contrast.
