Most trend forecasts start with mood boards. Ours start with what people actually put on their walls. Two years of orders point to six clear shifts for 2027, from the return of classic prints to softer greens and calmer colour. They also suggest that two of this year's most repeated predictions, dark and moody rooms and the end of geometric designs, will not happen.
1. Classic prints make a comeback
Traditional prints are the clearest comeback in our orders this year. Classic designs grew by two thirds in our orders over the past twelve months, and chintz, the dense, old-fashioned floral, grew by half. Toile is still a niche, but it more than tripled. In 2027 we expect both to move out of period homes and into ordinary living rooms and bedrooms.
The designs that are selling show how it is done now. Vintage Peonies, a classic peony design in grey tones, keeps the traditional motif but tones down the colour. Riverbank Oak Landscape, Olive takes the pastoral scene of a toile and makes it calm enough for a bedroom. If you want the look without a period feel, pair the print with simple, modern furniture.
