Wallpaper - Good Morning Cup

A bold still life study created by Kate Jarvik Birch, our Good Morning Cup wallpaper brings a rich, painted character to the wall. The design centres on a glossy cobalt blue ceramic teacup resting on a matching saucer with a silver spoon, set against a quiet, pale grey-green background. We especially like the painterly brushwork and the reflective highlights across the glazed ceramic surface, which give the motif a graphic yet intimate presence. Made to measure on PVC-free paper with a subtle physical surface structure, this mural wallpaper is straightforward to hang and adds an expressive focal point to residential interiors.

In the room

Because of its painterly still life composition and strong single motif, we see this wall mural working particularly well on an accent wall in a kitchen, breakfast nook, or dining room. The clean contrast between the deep royal blues of the cup and the soft neutral backdrop allows the design to anchor a room without feeling overwhelming. In a dining area or alongside an open kitchen, placing it on a wall behind a dining table or adjacent to a sideboard gives the artwork room to breathe while grounding the eating space.

It also brings unexpected character to a utility room, pantry, or home study where a smaller wall area can carry an artful, graphic design. With generous daylight, the tonal nuances in the brushstrokes and the bright white highlights on the ceramic glaze stand out crisply.

Styling it

When styling around our Good Morning Cup design, we suggest leaning into clean lines and understated materials that let the painted artwork take centre stage:

• Pair the deep blue ceramic tones with mid-toned or light timber furniture, such as natural birch, ash, or light oak dining tables and shelving.
• Introduce brushed chrome, stainless steel, or matte silver hardware and lighting to echo the metallic sheen of the painted teaspoon.
• Keep surrounding cabinetry and painted trim in soft off-whites, cool greys, or muted celadon to maintain a fresh, balanced atmosphere.

Colour combinations

The palette of our wallpaper is led by deep cobalt, royal blue, and indigo across the cup and saucer, balanced by crisp white highlights, charcoal shading, and a cool, desaturated sage-grey background.

To build a cohesive colour scheme, we recommend pairing the wallpaper with chalky off-whites or soft pale grey paint on adjacent walls. For a more defined, contemporary look, navy blue cabinetry or deep charcoal accents can draw directly from the shadows in the cup. If you prefer subtle warmth, light muted olive or dusty sage textiles complement the cool background tone naturally without competing for attention.
