Wallpaper - Serpentine Dance

Our Serpentine Dance wallpaper, created by Julia Dreams, centres on a sweeping, ribbon-like wave with a painterly, textured finish set against a deep charcoal grey background. The broad, fluid gesture travels vertically across the composition, creating an engaging sense of rhythm while leaving generous open space on the darker ground. This contrast between the pale, expressive brushstroke and the moody charcoal tone gives the design a striking, minimalist presence that balances bold abstract art with graphic calm. Like all our wall murals, this design is made-to-measure on PVC-free paper with a subtle physical surface structure.

In the room

We find that this design works particularly well in spaces where you want to introduce a moody, artistic atmosphere without overwhelming the room with dense pattern. In a contemporary living room, we would place this wallpaper on a feature wall behind a low sofa, giving the wide vertical curve room to unfold from floor to ceiling. The generous negative space prevents the charcoal backdrop from feeling crowded, making it equally fitting for a focused home office or study. Because the motif relies on vertical movement and open composition, an uninterrupted wall area lets the fluid gesture serve as the room's main visual anchor.

Styling it

The restrained geometry of our design invites an equally considered approach to furniture and decor:

• Pair with streamlined, low-profile furniture in neutral tones to let the graphic sweep of the wave remain the focal point.
• Choose dark painted cabinetry or understated matte black accents to echo the depth of the charcoal background.
• Introduce textured upholstery such as bouclé or woven fabrics in soft off-white to complement the painted texture of the curving ribbon.

Colour combinations

The palette in our wallpaper pairs a deep, velvety charcoal grey base with a lighter, textured ribbon element in pale greyish pink. Around this design, we suggest leaning into tonal contrasts. Soft off-whites, cool chalk greys, and muted stone hues on adjacent walls will pick up the lighter notes of the motif and keep the overall room feeling balanced. For a more dramatic, enveloping interior, you can wrap surrounding trims and woodwork in dark slate or deep graphite to blend quietly into the background.
