Wallpaper - Food Phrases IV

Created in collaboration with designer Becky Thorns, our Food Phrases IV wallpaper brings a playful typographic focus to the wall with handwritten brush lettering reading "hola", "salut", and "ciao". Set against a soft off-white background, the deep ink-navy script displays visible brushstroke textures that lend the vertical composition an inviting, artisanal feel. The balanced, generous spacing between each greeting gives the graphic lettering plenty of breathing room, making it an engaging focal point for dining areas, kitchens, or entryways. Like all Wallism mural wallpapers, this design is made-to-measure and printed on PVC-free paper with a subtle surface structure.

In the room

The strong vertical rhythm of this design makes it particularly effective on an accent wall where the full phrase stack can be viewed from top to bottom. In a kitchen, breakfast nook, or dining space, we love positioning this mural wallpaper near a dining table or open shelving, welcoming family and guests with international warmth. It also works wonderfully in an entryway or hallway, establishing a friendly, graphic tone as soon as you step inside. Because the motif relies on bold script with ample negative space, we suggest keeping tall storage furniture off this wall so the fluid lettering remains clear and unobstructed.

Styling it

The clean, hand-lettered aesthetic pairs naturally with relaxed contemporary, Scandinavian, or modern bistro-inspired interiors. To balance the dark blue brushwork, we recommend incorporating mid-tone natural woods, such as warm oak or teak, in dining chairs or console tables. Simple matte ceramics and minimalist pendant lighting help echo the casual, artisanal character of the design without competing with the typography.

Colour combinations

The design centres on deep ink navy and warm cream. For surrounding walls and woodwork, soft neutrals like warm off-white, light linen, or subtle stone work beautifully to maintain a bright, welcoming environment. If you prefer more depth, pulling the dark navy from the lettering onto adjacent cabinetry, baseboards, or a statement chair creates a cohesive, grounded look.
