Wallpaper - A Desert Journey

Our A Desert Journey wallpaper, created by artist Danhui Nai, depicts an expansive desert landscape painted with rich, layered brushwork. Tall cacti and prickly pear plants with green pads stand in the foreground across earthy ground coloured in warm reds and sandy browns. In the distance, blue and grey mountain ridges rise towards a deep navy sky softened by pale, drifting clouds. The scenic composition gives the wall an open horizon, while the warm terracotta and cool navy tones create an engaging visual depth. Printed made-to-measure on our PVC-free paper with a subtle surface structure, our mural wallpapers bring scenic art straight into the home.

In the room

In a living room or bedroom, we like using this desert landscape across a wider, uninterrupted wall where the full panorama can unfold from the cacti in the foreground to the distant mountains. In a study or home office, the deep navy sky and grounded earth tones bring a calm, focused backdrop to the desk area. Because the motif carries distinct vertical elements in the cacti balanced by a wide horizontal horizon, it works well behind a low-profile sofa or bed frame that lets the landscape remain in clear view.

Styling it

To balance the expressive, painted character of the scenery, we suggest keeping the surrounding furniture relatively grounded and understated. Warm wood tones, such as teak, walnut, or stained oak, echo the reddish-brown hues of the desert floor and bring a natural warmth to the room. For upholstery and textiles, soft woven fabrics in unbleached linen, sandy beige, or deep indigo help connect the furniture to the navy and terracotta palette without competing with the landscape itself.

Colour combinations

The wallpaper features a balanced palette of deep navy blue, cool mountain greys, cactus greens, and warm terracotta reds. When decorating the rest of the room, we recommend pairing it with adjacent walls painted in warm off-white, muted sand, or a soft clay tone. For a bolder look, you can draw out the darker tones of the sky with deep navy accents on woodwork or cabinetry.
