Wallpaper - April Gray I

Our April Gray I wallpaper by Mike Schick brings together soft geometric shapes and painted abstract forms in a calm, balanced composition. Divided by a clean vertical white band, the motif pairs sweeping arcs, rounded planes, and a gentle wavy line with subtle pops of orange and purple along the drawn contour edges. The muted palette of soft grey, off-white, and warm neutral tones has a hand-painted look with visible painterly texture throughout. Like all Wallism wallpapers, this design is made-to-measure to fit your room dimensions and printed on PVC-free paper with a subtle surface structure.

In the room

Because the composition relies on large, graceful curves and broad blocks of colour, we see this design working particularly well on an uninterrupted feature wall in a living room, dining room, or bedroom. The vertical division gives the mural wallpaper a strong architectural presence, while the soft grey tones keep the overall effect quiet and understated. In an open-plan space or behind a headboard or sofa, the large scale of the shapes provides a striking backdrop without overwhelming the rest of the interior.

Styling it

To complement the painterly abstract character of the design, we would pair this wallpaper with low-profile, contemporary furniture that lets the large shapes remain visible. Simple silhouettes in mid-toned or dark wood create a warm contrast against the cool grey background, while clean-lined upholstery in off-white or charcoal echoes the tonal shifts within the pattern. A few subtle accents in terracotta or warm rust can also pick up on the delicate coloured outlines traced between the main shapes.

Colour combinations

The wallpaper is grounded in a palette of cool and warm greys, chalky off-whites, and soft stone tones, accented by fine lines of warm orange and muted purple. On surrounding walls and woodwork, we recommend pairing it with soft warm white or pale grey paint to maintain a bright, cohesive look. If you prefer a more contrasting scheme, deep charcoal or slate grey on neighbouring architectural details or cabinetry provides a confident, grounding balance.
