Wallpaper - Moonlit Garden I

Our Moonlit Garden I wallpaper, created with artist Katie Pertiet, brings a vintage collage aesthetic to the wall with a striking botanical specimen motif. At the centre of the composition sits a detailed butterfly illustrated in charcoal grey and soft sky blue, framed by aged paper ephemera, antique typography, subtle botanical leaves, and weathered parchment tones. The surrounding backdrop remains pale and calm, allowing the layered central vignette to command visual attention without overwhelming the room. Made-to-measure on our PVC-free paper with a subtle surface structure, it offers a thoughtful and characterful focal point for interior spaces.

In the room

We see this mural wallpaper working particularly well as a dedicated feature wall in a bedroom, sitting room, or quiet study. Because the artwork is arranged as a central, framed composition with generous negative space towards the outer edges, it benefits from being placed on an uninterrupted wall where the central illustration remains unobscured.

Positioning this design behind a low bedstead, behind a clean-lined sofa, or above a low console table allows the intricate details of the typography, leaves, and butterfly to be appreciated at eye level. The muted, neutral ground means it integrates gracefully into smaller and larger rooms alike, bringing graphic interest without crowding the surrounding architecture.

Styling it

To complement the vintage, curated feel of this design, we recommend pairing it with understated furnishings and natural textures:

• Choose warm wood furniture, such as light oak, ash, or mid-toned timber, which echoes the sepia and parchment tones in the background collage.
• Incorporate simple textiles like natural linen cushions or woven wool throws in cream, taupe, or soft grey to keep the atmosphere soft and layered.
• Add subtle accent pieces in matte black, antique bronze, or slate to pick up the deep charcoal linework of the central butterfly wings.

Colour combinations

The palette in our wallpaper centres on warm parchment beige, antique paper cream, soft leafy greens, and deep charcoal grey, accented by subtle touches of pale cornflower and sky blue within the lower wings.

For adjacent walls and woodwork, warm off-whites, soft stone neutrals, and muted greiges create a seamless, harmonious transition. If you want to draw out the deeper contrast in the motif, a muted slate grey or deep charcoal on trim or accent doors can provide a striking architectural frame. Alternatively, soft dusty blues or muted sage greens on cushions, upholstery, or curtains subtly echo the delicate botanical and wing details.
