Wallpaper - Aperitif Poster

Our vintage Art Nouveau poster wallpaper brings the lively charm of a turn-of-the-century French aperitif illustration directly into the home. Centred on an expressive figure in a pale mint gown and feathered hat raising a bottle of Quinquina Dubonnet, the artwork balances graphic typography with fluid, dynamic linework. The warm cream background softens the bold contrast of dark blue lettering and vibrant coral-orange accents, giving the motif a distinctive retro character. Printed to your specific dimensions on our PVC-free paper with a subtle surface structure, this design turns an accent wall into a captivating conversation piece.

In the room

We see this design working particularly well in spaces where people gather to eat, drink, and socialise. A dining room or a dedicated dining nook in an open-plan kitchen offers a natural setting, where the historic food and beverage theme feels immediately at home. Because the motif is arranged with a clear vertical hierarchy and bold central artwork, we recommend placing it on a prominent, relatively uninterrupted wall where the full graphic composition can be appreciated from across the room.

In a living room or home bar area, our wall murals can anchor a seating corner or act as a focal point behind low furniture. The warm cream base tone ensures the large-scale print does not feel overpowering, while the graphic text adds rhythm and character. It also works beautifully in an entryway or powder room, where a single illustrated wall creates a memorable, welcoming impression for guests.

Styling it

To complement the graphic period charm of the artwork, we would balance the space with clean lines and warm, inviting finishes.

• Pair the wallpaper with warm timber furniture, such as medium-toned oak, teak, or walnut, which grounds the vibrant coral and yellow details in the print.
• Introduce dark metal accents, like matte black or antique bronze light fixtures and picture frames, to echo the deep navy lettering and defined contours.
• Keep surrounding soft furnishings relatively calm and unpatterned, using neutral linen or wool in warm off-white tones so the illustrated figure remains the central focus.

Colour combinations

The illustration is built on a soft cream foundation, accented by vivid coral orange, deep ink blue, pale seafoam green, and touches of marigold yellow.

When choosing paint colours for adjoining walls, we suggest continuing the warm cream background across the rest of the room to create a cohesive, wrap-around feel. For a bolder look, a rich navy or deep midnight blue on adjacent walls or painted joinery will pick up the lettering and create a striking, moody backdrop. Alternatively, subtle terracotta or warm biscuit shades in trim and decorative ceramics will enhance the warm, vintage aesthetic without competing with the central illustration.
