Wallpaper - Cork Ireland Skyline Purple & Gold

Our Cork Ireland Skyline Purple & Gold wallpaper mural presents the architectural silhouette of Cork in an expressive watercolour-like style by artist Michael Tompsett. Set against a crisp, clean white background, the landmark towers, spires, and bridges emerge from energetic splashes and painterly splatters rendered in deep mulberry purple, warm ochre, and earthy gold tones. The horizontal composition balances dramatic dark pigments with open negative space above, giving the urban skyline a dreamy, artistic character. Made-to-measure on PVC-free paper with a subtle surface structure, our wallpaper creates an eye-catching focal point across any accent wall.

In the room

Because the skyline runs horizontally with generous white space above the rooftops, this mural wallpaper works exceptionally well on a wide, uninterrupted wall where the full profile of the city can stretch out comfortably. In a living room, positioning the skyline behind a low-profile sofa lets the architectural details remain fully visible while grounding the seating area.

For a home office or study, the design offers an engaging, artistic backdrop behind a desk without overwhelming the room. The clean white upper section keeps the overall atmosphere feeling open and airy, making it a great match for rooms with standard ceiling heights where darker, full-coverage patterns might feel too heavy.

Styling it

We recommend pairing this design with contemporary furnishings that allow the rich purple and gold artwork to stand out:

• Choose low-backed furniture in understated neutral upholstery, such as off-white or soft grey, to keep the visual focus on the skyline's intricate line work and paint splatters.
• Introduce warm wood elements, like a walnut or warm oak coffee table, which naturally pick up on the earthy ochre tones in the print.
• Accentuate the composition with warm brass or brushed gold lighting fixtures and hardware that mirror the golden watercolour hues across the lower wall.

Colour combinations

The wallpaper itself combines deep mulberry purple, rich plum, and ochre gold set against a clean white backdrop. When decorating the surrounding space, we suggest painting adjacent walls in a soft, clean warm white or pale greige to maintain the mural's crisp contrast.

If you want to bring out the richer shades in the artwork, consider using deep plum, aubergine, or dark honey accents in your cushions, throws, or decorative ceramics. Muted charcoal and dark slate also work beautifully alongside the deep mulberry base without competing for attention.
