Wallpaper - Spread The Love

Our Spread The Love wallpaper, created by Kate Jarvik Birch, brings an expressive still-life painting of a classic block of butter and a vintage butter knife directly to the wall. What we particularly like about this design is its painterly gouache-style brushwork, where rich golden yellows and soft cream tones are framed by bold shades of blue, soft paper whites, and deep illustrative shadow lines. The close-up perspective and playful everyday subject make it a striking visual feature. Like all our wallpapers, this mural wallpaper is made-to-measure to your specific wall dimensions and printed on PVC-free paper with a subtle surface structure.

In the room

Because of its culinary still-life motif, we see this wall mural working especially well in a dining room, kitchen, or a playful breakfast nook. The large visual scale of the butter block and silver-toned knife creates an immediate focal point, so we would give it a main accent wall where the composition can be appreciated from across the room. On a dining wall or beside a breakfast table, the vibrant contrast between the warm yellow tones and the cool blue background brings energy and personality without feeling cluttered.

Styling it

When styling around this mural, we suggest balancing the expressive artwork with clean, grounded interior elements:

• Pair the warm golden hues with natural wood furniture, such as a honeyed oak or birch dining table, to echo the butter's rich tones.
• Bring in polished chrome or stainless steel accents, such as kitchen hardware or lighting fixtures, which mirror the reflective details on the knife handle.
• Keep surrounding tableware, ceramics, and textiles simple and understated in neutral off-whites or unbleached linen to let the artwork take centre stage.

Colour combinations

The palette is built around creamy butter yellow, warm ochre, and crisp paper white, set against rich sky and cerulean blue tones with deep charcoal shadows. For surrounding walls and woodwork, a soft warm white or pale linen tone lets the mural stand out crisply. If you prefer a richer, more cohesive look, echoing the deep sky blue on adjacent painted surfaces or kitchen cabinetry creates a wonderfully immersive backdrop.
