Wallpaper - Food Phrases II

Created in collaboration with designer Becky Thorns, our Food Phrases II wallpaper brings a bold, graphic typographic feel to the wall. The composition centres around expressive, brush-lettered lettering spelling out "eat & drink", flanked by illustrated line-drawn dining elements including a spoon, a wine glass, a fork, and a knife. Set against a soft off-white background with deep navy blue artwork, the brushstroke texture and confident linework give the design a modern bistro-inspired character. Like all our wall murals, this design is made-to-measure, PVC-free, and printed on wallpaper paper with a subtle physical structure.

In the room

We see this design working naturally in dining areas, open-plan kitchen-diners, or relaxed breakfast nooks where food and gathering are the main focus. Because the typography and line illustrations carry strong visual clarity, we would place this mural wallpaper on an uninterrupted feature wall adjacent to a dining table or kitchen island. In smaller spaces or compact dining corners, the clean contrast keeps the room feeling structured and open rather than overcrowded.

Styling it

The graphic contrast of deep navy on off-white makes this mural easy to anchor with surrounding furniture. We would pair it with simple, contemporary furniture pieces to let the lettering remain the clear focal point.

• Combine with warm wooden dining furniture or painted cabinetry to soften the strong graphic contrast.
• Keep surrounding tableware and lighting simple in form, using understated matte finishes that complement the painterly brushstrokes.
• Add subtle ceramic accents or glassware in simple silhouettes that echo the illustrated dining motifs on the wall.

Colour combinations

The design itself is built on a crisp pairing of deep navy blue and a warm off-white backdrop. Around it, we recommend working with surrounding wall colours in soft neutrals, warm stony creams, or matching deep navy accents on nearby woodwork and trims. Natural timber tones, soft slate greys, and muted chalky finishes integrate smoothly with this graphic palette.
