Wallpaper - Brushstroke Fan Scallop, Salamander

Our Brushstroke Fan Scallop wallpaper in Salamander, designed by RNM Arts, brings an expressive interpretation of classic Art Deco geometry into a room. The motif features sweeping, palm-like fan arches built with painterly brushstroke textures, repeating in a rhythmic scalloped layout. Deep olive and moss green tones emerge against a dark charcoal ground, creating an intriguing, moody depth with softened contours. Like all of our wallpapers, it is made-to-measure according to your wall dimensions and printed on PVC-free paper with a subtle physical structure.

In the room

We especially like this design for spaces where you want a sense of enclosure and atmospheric drama. In a living room or a dining room, the large arching rhythm creates an elegant architectural backdrop behind low-backed seating or a dining table. Because the motif has a continuous vertical rise and clear repeating arches, it works particularly well on wider, uninterrupted feature walls where the full span of the fan shapes can be appreciated. In a hallway or study, the design can wrap across all walls to create an immersive, tailored environment without feeling overly sharp, thanks to the textured, painted edges of the brushstrokes.

Styling it

The combination of organic brushwork and geometric structure makes this wallpaper easy to ground with natural materials and considered silhouettes.

We would pair this pattern with mid-toned or dark wood furniture, such as walnut or smoked oak, which echoes the warmth and depth of the olive palette. Upholstered pieces in textured bouclé, soft velvet, or heavy matte linen in muted neutrals help soften the dark background while letting the fan motif remain the focal point. To complement the vintage, Deco-inspired character, subtle antique brass or blackened bronze accents in lighting and hardware provide a refined touch without distracting from the wall pattern.

Colour combinations

The palette within our wallpaper centres on rich salamander and olive greens layered over a dense, dark charcoal base. To create a cohesive look across adjacent painted walls, woodwork, or joinery, we suggest working with muted olive greens or warm charcoals that pull directly from the design. If you prefer higher contrast, soft stone, warm ecru, or oatmeal tones balance the deep backdrop beautifully while keeping the surrounding room bright and grounded.
