Wallpaper - Earthy Abstract II

Our Earthy Abstract II wallpaper, created by Danhui Nai, brings an atmospheric, painterly composition to the wall with sweeping horizontal washes of deep earth brown, warm clay, muted ochre, and soft hints of watery teal. What we particularly like about this mural wallpaper is the fluid, cloud-like transition between darker, grounded tones across the centre and lighter, airy washes at the top and bottom. The artwork carries the visual character of layered watercolour on paper, giving it a soft and enveloping mood without hard lines or rigid structure. Like all our wallpapers, this design is made-to-measure to your exact wall dimensions on PVC-free paper with a subtle paper structure, and is designed to be straightforward to hang.

In the room

Because of the strong horizontal flow and rich central depth, we see this wall mural working particularly well as an accent wall in a living room, dining room, or bedroom. Across a wider, uninterrupted wall, such as behind a low-profile sofa or headboard, the expansive, painterly gradient has plenty of space to unfold naturally. The darker core of the design anchors the middle of the room, while the paler upper sections keep the top of the wall feeling open and light.

Under softer evening lighting or warm lamplight, the deeper brown and amber tones feel especially grounded and intimate. In spaces with generous daylight, the delicate teal blooms and subtle paper-like washes along the edges become much more noticeable, adding quiet nuance to the room throughout the day.

Styling it

To let the fluid movement of the mural carry the visual focus, we suggest styling the surrounding space with considered, understated pieces:

• Ground the room with low-slung, contemporary furniture in textured, neutral upholstery such as oatmeal or charcoal to balance the expressive gradient.
• Introduce warm wood finishes like walnut, smoked oak, or teak to pick up the rich earthy midtones of the artwork.
• Use subtle black metal, dark bronze, or patinated brass accents in lighting and table frames to echo the deeper brown tones without competing with the painterly composition.

Colour combinations

The design itself features rich earth brown, burnt sienna, soft sand, and muted ochre, balanced by soft grey-beige and delicate washes of muted teal. When painting adjoining walls or woodwork, we recommend pairing this wallpaper with warm stone, pale plaster tones, or deep muted charcoal. For a bolder, more cocooning interior, bringing out the darker umber or rich chocolate tones on adjacent trim or cabinetry creates a beautifully cohesive, design-led atmosphere.
