Wallpaper - Thistles Green

Our Thistles Green wallpaper brings an expressive, painterly botanical study into the home, created in collaboration with Wild Apple Portfolio. The design features slender, white and cream thistle silhouettes rising through swept grasses, set against an earthy backdrop of deep olive green and warm brown brushstrokes. Sweeping gestures and visible paint textures give the landscape a wild, atmospheric rhythm that feels both rustic and artistic. Produced as made-to-measure murals on PVC-free paper with a subtle physical structure, our wall murals are straightforward to hang and easy to introduce as an artistic focal point.

In the room

We see this design working particularly well on a wider, relatively uninterrupted wall where the expressive movement across the foreground grasses has room to unfold naturally. In a living room behind a low-backed sofa or along a dining room wall, the artwork creates an enveloping, grounded atmosphere without overwhelming the space. The composition naturally anchors a room, drawing the eye down into rich earthy depths while allowing the pale thistle forms to rise into the softer olive background above.

Because the pattern carries a rich level of visual texture, it thrives in spaces where it is given space to breathe rather than being hidden behind tall shelving or cluttered wall hangings. In a bedroom placed behind a headboard or in a tranquil home office, the muted olive tones and organic brushwork establish a grounded, nature-inspired setting that feels layered and considered.

Styling it

To complement the impressionistic, textural quality of the design, we suggest pairing it with furniture and accents that share a similarly organic feel. Natural, warm-toned woods like walnut or mid-toned oak echo the brown undercurrents of the grasses, grounding the room comfortably.

For surrounding upholstery and decorative pieces, soft matte finishes and woven textiles in unbleached linen or wool maintain an earthy balance. Keeping large furniture pieces relatively simple in form allows the intricate brushwork of the mural wallpapers to serve as the main decorative statement in the room.

Colour combinations

The palette within our design balances deep, moody olive greens and earthy umber tones with soft creams and chalky whites in the foreground botanicals. When selecting colours for adjacent walls, trim, or cabinetry, muted earthy neutrals work exceptionally well.

Soft off-white or creamy stone on woodwork will pick up the pale thistle heads, keeping the boundary around the wall soft and cohesive. If you prefer a moodier, more immersive interior, pulling an adjacent wall into a deep moss green or rich muddy brown creates a cosy, tonal wrap that complements the artwork’s darker undertones.
