Wallpaper - First Peony

Created by Krystal Adams, our First Peony wallpaper captures an expressive still life featuring a blooming deep rose-pink peony in a glass jar against a soft pastel pink backdrop. We love how the loose, painterly brushwork brings movement and artistic character to the petals, while the muted lilac-grey tabletop grounds the composition. As with all our mural wallpapers, this design is made-to-measure to fit your room dimensions and printed on PVC-free paper with a subtle physical surface structure.

In the room

Because the motif is presented as a focused, singular still life composition, we see this wall mural working particularly well as an artistic feature wall in a bedroom, dining area, or a welcoming entryway. Giving the wallpaper a relatively uninterrupted wall allows the painted details of the jar and petals to sit clearly in view. In a bedroom, placing it behind a headboard or alongside a dressing table creates an inviting, characterful focal point without overwhelming the space.

Styling it

We recommend keeping surrounding furniture shapes relatively simple and letting the expressive floral motif take centre stage. Pieces in painted warm neutrals, soft grey, or natural blonde wood create a clean, modern contrast against the rich pink tones of the flower. To maintain visual balance, choose plain textured fabrics for curtains or bedding rather than competing patterned textiles.

Colour combinations

Our wallpaper centres on deep rose, berry, and wine shades in the petals, complemented by moss green in the stem, soft blush pink in the background, and hints of muted lilac and grey at the base. To complement the design on adjoining walls or woodwork, we suggest pulling out soft plaster pinks, warm off-whites, or gentle chalky greys. If you prefer a richer palette, deep berry or muted olive accents on furniture or trim echo the deeper tones of the blossom and foliage.
