Wallpaper - Love on the Plains

Captured by Wild Apple Portfolio, our Love on the Plains wallpaper brings an intimate, tender moment between two wild horses onto the wall. Rendered in warm sepia and muted earthy tones, the photographic mural focuses closely on the gentle connection between the pair, highlighted by their wind-swept manes and the soft, textured grasslands behind them. The large-scale composition and subtle monochromatic contrast create an expressive yet grounded presence in the room. Like all our wallpapers, this mural is made-to-measure to fit your specific dimensions and is completely PVC-free, with a subtle structure in the paper that complements photographic wall murals.

In the room

Because of the close crop and strong emotional focus of the horses, we think this design works particularly well on an uninterrupted feature wall where the full intimacy of the motif can be appreciated. In a living room behind a low-backed sofa, or in a primary bedroom behind a headboard, the horizontal flow of the heads creates a natural focal point without feeling cluttered. The soft sepia palette also suits a quiet study or a hallway wall, where the muted contrast brings warmth without overpowering the surrounding space.

Styling it

To complement the natural, grounded character of the mural wallpapers, we would pair them with understated furniture in warm wood tones, such as weathered oak, walnut, or rustic timber.

• Keep the surrounding furniture relatively low in height so the faces of the horses remain completely visible.
• Introduce natural, textured fabrics like unbleached linen, wool throws, or woven jute rugs that echo the visual texture of the wild grass.
• Choose decorative accents in matte black metal, bronze, or stoneware to ground the soft sepia tones without adding competing colours.

Colour combinations

The palette in the wallpaper is built on warm sepia, soft cream, charcoal browns, and muted biscuit tones. When decorating the rest of the room, we suggest working with warm off-whites, soft oatmeal, or pale stone on adjacent walls to keep the atmosphere calm and cohesive. If you prefer a richer, more enveloping feel, deeper tones like espresso brown, taupe, or dark charcoal drawn from the horses' manes create a sophisticated, tailored contrast on woodwork and trim.
