Wallpaper - Darling Clementine

Our Darling Clementine wallpaper mural, created with artist Julia Purinton, captures the quiet charm of a classic painterly still life. Three ripe clementines rest gently alongside their stems and deep green leaves against a moody, textured backdrop of shadowed earthy tones. What we particularly appreciate is how the luminous citrus oranges bring warmth and focus to the composition, while the rich, brushed background adds depth and calm. Produced custom made-to-measure on PVC-free paper with a subtle physical structure, this design brings an intimate artistic atmosphere to feature walls and dining areas alike.

In the room

Because of its central focal composition and painterly presence, we see this design working beautifully on a feature wall in a dining room, kitchen dining nook, or an intimate living space. The concentrated motif and rich, shadowed background naturally draw the eye, making it ideal for a wall behind a dining table or sideboard where the central fruit arrangement can anchor the space.

In rooms with warm evening lighting or soft ambient lamps, the luminous orange tones glow gently against the darker backdrop, creating a cosy, enveloping atmosphere. For smaller spaces or dining areas, keeping the surrounding walls relatively simple allows the artwork to function as a captivating focal point without overwhelming the room.

Styling it

To complement the rich, artistic character of this mural wallpaper, we would pair it with furniture and finishes that echo its timeless feel:

• Natural dark wood furniture, such as walnut or deep stained oak, complements the earthy undertones of the backdrop and enhances the classic still-life aesthetic.
• Brass, aged bronze, or warm metal hardware and lighting fixtures echo the warm golden-orange highlights in the fruit.
• Uncomplicated linen or woven upholstery in neutral tones keeps the overall setting relaxed and lets the wall mural hold the main visual attention.

Colour combinations

The palette of our wallpaper centres on vibrant citrus orange, warm amber, and deep leafy greens, balanced by shadowy umber, charcoal, and warm brownish-grey in the backdrop.

When choosing colours for surrounding walls, woodwork, or cabinetry, we suggest drawing from these tones. A deep charcoal or warm umber on adjacent walls creates an intimate, cocooning look that seamlessly extends the mood of the mural. Alternatively, softer warm stone, muted putty, or creamy off-whites on adjacent surfaces offer a gentle contrast that highlights the rich depth of the painting. For an accent colour in trim or cabinetry, a muted moss or olive green beautifully echoes the stems and leaves.
