Wallpaper - Pots of Herbs II Cottage

Created by Carol Rowan, our Pots of Herbs II Cottage wallpaper brings together a charming row of potted culinary herbs rendered in a warm, painterly oil style. The composition features weathered terracotta pots filled with basil, rosemary, thyme, sage, parsley, chives, and marjoram, each identified with classic slate-style plant markers against a softly textured neutral background. Lush fern and sage greens balance against the earthy terracotta and muted stone shades, lending the scene an inviting, rustic cottage character. Like all our wall murals, this design is made-to-measure to your exact wall dimensions and printed on PVC-free paper with a subtle paper texture that complements the painted artwork.

In the room

We see this design working particularly well in a kitchen or a relaxed dining room, where its garden-inspired theme feels right at home. The horizontal arrangement of the herb pots creates a natural grounded rhythm across the lower half of the wall, making it ideal for a feature wall behind a dining table, breakfast nook, or along a kitchen wall away from tall cabinetry. In spaces with good natural light, the subtle brushwork and fine botanical details in the foliage remain clear and expressive. Because the upper area of the wallpaper remains softly neutral, the mural introduces plenty of visual interest without overwhelming the room.

Styling it

To complement the heritage feel of the illustration, we would pair this design with simple, timeless interior elements. Warm natural timber furniture, such as an aged pine dining table or rustic wooden shelving, mirrors the organic warmth of the terracotta pots. For painted cabinetry or furniture, muted heritage shades such as off-white, soft moss, or warm stone create an understated, cohesive backdrop that lets the botanical motif take centre stage.

Colour combinations

The palette in our wallpaper centres on natural earthy tones, including fern green, leafy sage, warm terracotta, weathered stone grey, and gentle off-white. When decorating the surrounding space, we recommend pulling directly from these earthy hues:

• Soft chalky whites or muted stone tones on adjacent walls keep the space bright while harmonising with the painterly background.
• Sage and olive accents on kitchen units, woodwork, or upholstery echo the varied green foliage.
• Warm terracotta, rust, or unglazed ceramic accessories create a lovely dialogue with the painted pots.
