Wallpaper - Nara Escutcheon

Our Nara Escutcheon wallpaper, designed by Julia Dreams, features an orderly geometric repeat inspired by historic ceramic motifs and traditional block prints. Set against a warm neutral cream backdrop, crisp navy blue escutcheon-like medallions form a balanced grid, interspersed with delicate outline motifs and small arrow accents. What we particularly like about this design is its crisp visual rhythm, which balances clear contrast with plenty of open space. Printed as a made-to-measure, PVC-free wallpaper with a subtle physical structure in the paper, it brings a serene and timeless character to interior spaces.

In the room

The measured repeat of our Nara Escutcheon design makes it remarkably versatile in residential settings. We see this wallpaper working beautifully in a kitchen, where its classic tile-inspired character introduces structured pattern to open wall areas around dining tables or cabinetry. In a bathroom, the calm blue and neutral palette brings a refreshing, clean atmosphere to the walls.

Because the motif is organised on an open geometric grid rather than a dense, heavy pattern, it performs just as well across all four walls of a compact room as it does on a single accent wall. In smaller spaces, the generous negative space between the navy medallions keeps the room feeling airy, while in larger rooms, the rhythmic repeat provides steady visual interest across expansive surfaces.

Styling it

To complement the heritage character of this wallpaper, we suggest pairing it with clean-lined traditional or classic shaker cabinetry and warm wooden surfaces. Natural oak or rich walnut furniture grounds the bright contrast of the pattern without competing for attention.

When selecting hardware and fixtures, unlacquered brass or aged bronze accents pick up on the classic printmaking aesthetic, creating a warm contrast against the cool navy motifs. For textiles and upholstery, simple solid weaves in neutral tones allow the geometry of the wall murals to remain the focal point.

Colour combinations

The core palette of our design balances rich navy and cobalt blue details against a soft, warm neutral base. To build a cohesive room around this wallpaper, we recommend matching surrounding woodwork, skirting, and doors to the soft off-white and cream tones of the background. For a bolder look, drawing out the deep navy for adjacent joinery, built-in shelving, or a kitchen island creates a tailored and intentional contrast. Soft stone greys, muted taupes, and warm architectural whites also sit effortlessly alongside the motif.
