Wallpaper - Bedside

Our Bedside wallpaper mural by Kate Jarvik Birch captures an intimate interior scene rendered in rich, expressive brushstrokes. The composition centres on a glowing table lamp with a vibrant warm shade resting upon a nightstand, casting pools of golden light against deep teal, midnight blue, and dusky plum shadows beside an unmade bed. The painterly quality brings distinctive warmth and narrative depth to the wall, making it an engaging focal point. Like all our mural wallpapers, this design is made to measure and printed on PVC-free paper with a subtle surface structure.

In the room

We see this design working beautifully in spaces where you want to create an inviting, atmospheric mood. In a bedroom, placing this wall mural on the main feature wall behind the bed or on an adjacent wide wall enhances the room with its cosy, painterly narrative. It also brings tremendous character to a quiet study, a home library, or a reading corner where the warm illumination within the artwork feels naturally at home. Because the motif functions as a complete illustrative painting, we recommend giving it an uninterrupted wall so the full scene can unfold without being heavily obscured by tall wardrobes or high furniture.

Styling it

To balance the expressive artwork, we suggest pairing the wallpaper with understated furniture that lets the painterly composition lead the room. Mid-century silhouettes in darker wood, such as walnut or stained teak, echo the dark headboard and classic bedside table in the painting without competing for attention.

For textiles and surrounding accents, consider drawing on the tactile warmth of the scene. Heavy woven blankets, velvet cushions, or soft drapery in muted charcoal, deep navy, or warm amber complement the painting's atmospheric glow while keeping the rest of the decor grounded and serene.

Colour combinations

The wallpaper features a dramatic palette of glowing amber, burnt orange, and radiant yellow contrasted against deep teal, slate blue, shadowy plum, and dark charcoal. When decorating the surrounding space, you can take two distinct directions.

To emphasise the cosy, enveloping quality of the scene, paint neighbouring walls in a moody petrol blue, deep charcoal, or rich forest tone. Alternatively, if you prefer a lighter balance, warm off-whites, soft biscuit, or muted stone create a quiet, airy surround that frames the rich colours of the artwork cleanly.
