Wallpaper - Edo Waves, Sage

Created by Wai Collective, our Edo Waves, Sage wallpaper brings classic Japanese woodblock-inspired wave motifs into a contemporary palette. Sweeping crested waves with frothing foam and rhythmic linear crests rise upward against a serene, muted sage green backdrop. The graphic movement of the water is balanced by the gentle, two-tone colourway, giving the composition a grounded yet fluid presence. As with all Wallism mural wallpapers, this design is made-to-measure to your exact wall dimensions on PVC-free paper with a subtle surface structure, making it straightforward to hang in any interior.

In the room

Because the dynamic wave forms rise from the base and leave open space across the upper half of the wall, we see this wall mural working particularly well in a living room behind a low-backed sofa, or in a bedroom behind a headboard. The visual weight sits comfortably at the lower level, allowing the crested peaks to frame your furniture without overcrowding the room.

In a hallway, entryway, or dining room, the continuous horizontal motion of the waves guides the eye along the wall. We especially like how this design behaves on a wider, uninterrupted feature wall where the full sweep and cadence of the crashing crests can be seen in one fluid sequence.

Styling it

To complement the graphic Japanese aesthetic and natural curves of the waves, we suggest pairing this wallpaper with low-profile furniture in clean, uncomplicated silhouettes. Mid-tone woods, warm ash, or blackened timber create an intentional contrast that anchors the soft sage green background.

Keep nearby accessories understated to let the intricate line work take centre stage. Low-slung credenzas, woven paper cord seating, or minimal ceramic vessels harmonise naturally with the artwork without competing with the detailed sea foam pattern.

Colour combinations

The palette of our Edo Waves, Sage wallpaper centres on an earthy, muted sage green layered with chalky off-white and soft grey linework.

When choosing paint colours for adjoining walls and woodwork, consider warm neutral tones like stone, parchment, or pale ecru to echo the crests of the waves. If you prefer a richer, more enveloping feel, pulling out a deeper eucalyptus or olive green for surrounding trim adds refined depth to the space.
