Wallpaper - Edo Waves, Jade

Our Edo Waves, Jade wallpaper brings an expressive, traditional Japanese wave motif into a refined, contemporary composition. Designed by Wai Collective, the pattern features rolling, stylised crests with rhythmic white foam against an earthy jade green backdrop. The upper portion of the design leaves an open, calmer expanse of solid colour, allowing the dramatic movement along the lower two-thirds to anchor the room naturally. Like all of our wallpapers, it is custom made-to-measure on PVC-free paper with a subtle surface structure, making it simple and straightforward to hang.

In the room

Because the dynamic crests build upwards from the base of the wall, this design works especially well behind lower furniture where the waves can rise uninterrupted. In a living room behind a low-backed sofa, or in a bedroom framed behind a minimalist headboard, the cresting wave crests provide strong visual interest while the calmer jade field above keeps the overall space feeling open. In dining areas or wider hallways, the horizontal rhythm of the water leads the eye smoothly across the length of the wall. We particularly like how the crisp white linework catches morning light, giving the swirling crests clear definition.

Styling it

The Japanese woodblock aesthetic pairs naturally with clean-lined interior styles. We suggest pairing this mural with low-profile furniture in pale ash or natural oak to echo the organic movement of the waves without competing for attention.

To complement the rich graphic quality of the pattern, introduce surrounding elements with quiet, grounded surfaces:

• Low-profile furniture in light or warm wood to maintain visual balance along the wall.
• Textured linen drapery or matte stoneware accents that reflect the tactile qualities of the print.
• Simple, unadorned architectural lighting that highlights the detail in the foaming waves.

Colour combinations

The palette centres on the relationship between deep jade green and crisp off-white foam. To build a cohesive room around this wallpaper, look to surrounding tones that either harmonise with the green ground or pull out the pale details. Soft muted whites, pale sage, and chalky stone on surrounding walls or woodwork allow the mural wallpaper to remain the clear focal point. For a more enveloping atmosphere, deeper moss greens, charcoal accents, or muted slate grey create a moody, sophisticated setting.
