Wallpaper - Ljubljana Slovenia Skyline Concrete

In this architectural design created by Michael Tompsett, the iconic skyline of Ljubljana is rendered as a bold black silhouette set against a textured, neutral concrete-look backdrop. The lower edge of the skyline dissolves into dynamic ink splatters and paint drips, giving the geometric city landmarks an expressive, artistic edge. The high contrast between the deep charcoal silhouette and the warm pebble grey background creates a striking focal point with plenty of open space above the cityscape. Like all our wall murals, this design is made-to-measure to fit your wall dimensions and printed on PVC-free wallpaper with a subtle structure in the paper.

In the room

Because the silhouette anchors the lower half of the composition while leaving generous breathing room above, we see this working particularly well behind a low-profile sofa in a living room or behind a desk in a study. The strong horizontal line grounds the room, making it an excellent choice for a wider uninterrupted feature wall where the full panorama of the cityscape can unfold without being obscured by tall bookcases or tall wardrobes. In a home office, the architectural profile brings an intentional, graphic focus to the space while maintaining a calm, uncluttered backdrop for everyday work.

Styling it

The graphic presence of the cityscape pairs naturally with clean-lined, modern interiors. We would lean into the architectural feel with contemporary furniture in black metal or darker wood finishes, which echo the deep silhouette without competing with its form. Keeping surrounding pieces relatively understated allows the visual rhythm of the towers and spires to take centre stage. For upholstery and larger textiles, simple woven fabrics in slate, charcoal, or textured off-white help bridge the transition between the mural and the rest of the room.

Colour combinations

Our wallpaper is built around a focused monochrome palette of deep black silhouette tones against warm pebble grey and stone-like neutrals. When choosing colours for surrounding walls and woodwork, soft off-whites, warm greys, and muted chalky tones work seamlessly to continue the calm mood of the concrete background. If you want to introduce more depth elsewhere in the room, deep charcoal or near-black accents on architraves, window frames, or adjacent shelving create a sophisticated, intentional connection to the artwork.
