Wallpaper - Kasumi Garden, Lacquer Red

Designed by Marta Cortese, our Kasumi Garden, Lacquer Red wallpaper brings an intricate botanical landscape into the home with a rich, dramatic presence. The composition builds upward from a densely layered ground of pale blossoms, irises, and delicate floral clusters into taller bamboo stems rising against a deep lacquer-red backdrop, subtly patterned with traditional cloud-like mist silhouettes. The contrast between the creamy, softly tinted petals and the deep crimson background gives the pattern exceptional visual depth. Made-to-measure and PVC-free, this design features a subtle structure in the wallpaper paper that adds an authentic, grounded feel to any interior.

In the room

We love how this mural wallpaper grounds a space by concentrating its floral density across the lower portion of the wall while allowing the upper half to breathe through darker tones and stylized bamboo silhouettes. Because the artwork unfolds horizontally as a scenic panorama, we see it working particularly well on a wide, uninterrupted wall in a dining room, living room, or primary bedroom. In a dining area, placing the wallpaper along a main wall creates an enveloping atmosphere for evening gatherings. In a bedroom, installing it behind a low headboard lets the blooming foreground frame the bed naturally while the taller bamboo and atmospheric red sky extend upward toward the ceiling.

Styling it

Because the botanical illustration carries considerable detail, we recommend pairing this wallpaper with furniture that features clean, sculptural lines rather than overly ornate shapes.

Low-profile seating or minimalist dining tables allow the lower floral landscape to remain visible and uncrowded. Darker wood tones such as walnut or deep stained ash blend harmoniously with the lacquer-red ground, while natural linen upholstery in oatmeal, biscuit, or muted taupe reflects the soft tones found within the flower petals. Matte black metal accents or muted bronze lighting fixtures echo the grounding dark contours in the artwork without competing with its warm character.

Color combinations

The palette in our wallpaper centers on deep lacquer red, terracotta undertones, creamy ivory, blush, and soft charcoal-tinted shadows.

When choosing paint for surrounding walls or woodwork, a warm ivory or bone white draws direct inspiration from the garden blossoms, providing a balanced, light contrast. For a richer, more enveloping aesthetic, adjacent walls painted in a deep oxblood, muted burgundy, or warm espresso pick up the darkest background tones, turning the room into a cohesive, intimate retreat. Muted sand or warm greige trim also works beautifully to frame the wallpaper without drawing sharp boundaries.
