Wallpaper - Sinuous Ceres, Slate Blue

Designed by Marta Cortese, our Sinuous Ceres, Slate Blue wallpaper captures a meadow of tall grasses and delicate seed heads rising against a deep, muted slate blue backdrop. What we particularly like about this design is the contrast between the broad, sweeping ribbons of wheat-toned grass in the lower foreground and the airy, finely detailed stems that branch upwards towards the dark night sky above. The warm beige, wheat, and soft biscuit hues bring an organic warmth that balances the quiet depth of the slate background. Our wallpapers are made-to-measure and printed on PVC-free paper with a subtle surface structure, making them straightforward to hang.

In the room

Because the composition is weighted towards the base with taller, slender stems reaching upwards, we see this wall mural working exceptionally well in a bedroom behind a bedhead or in a living room behind a low-profile sofa. The vertical rhythm of the grasses naturally draws the eye upward, which helps give walls a sense of height. In a dining room or wide hallway, placing this wallpaper along an uninterrupted wall allows the full width and density of the botanical repeat to unfold. In spaces with soft, warm lighting, the wheat-toned leaves catch an ambient glow against the darker blue ground, creating an intimate, enveloping atmosphere in the evenings.

Styling it

To let the expressive botanical artwork remain the focal point, we recommend pairing this wallpaper with furniture featuring clean silhouettes and organic materials. Warm timber pieces in light oak, natural ash, or mid-toned teak echo the honeyed hues of the illustrated grasses, grounding the room naturally. Upholstery in textured cream, oatmeal, or soft grey linen balances the visual weight of the darker blue backdrop without competing for attention. Understated black metal accents or muted bronze lighting fixtures can also introduce subtle definition that mirrors the depth of the slate blue background.

Colour combinations

The design itself centres around warm beige, golden straw, and biscuit tones set against a matte slate blue ground, accented by subtle grey-brown and soft ochre undertones. When choosing surrounding colours for adjacent walls, trim, or textiles, we suggest pulling from these established tones. Warm chalky whites, soft stone, and light camel create a gentle, harmonious balance alongside the wallpaper. Alternatively, matching neighbouring woodwork or cabinetry to a deep slate blue or rich navy will produce a bold, cohesive, and cocooning interior scheme.
