Wallpaper - Grain Clad, Walnut

Our Grain Clad, Walnut wallpaper brings the visual character of rich timber panelling to your walls, featuring vertical planks with deep espresso and warm chocolate brown tones. What we particularly like about this design is the balance between the fluid organic grain patterns and the structured vertical lines of the boards, creating a grounded architectural feel across a room. The natural variations from plank to plank give the surface depth without overwhelming the space. Like all of our wallpapers, it is custom made to your dimensions on PVC-free paper with a subtle surface texture, making it straightforward to hang.

In the room

In a living room or dining room, we see this design working especially well across a main feature wall behind a sofa or dining table, where the vertical panelling adds height and visual weight. Because the repeat is rhythmic and orderly, it also sits comfortably on larger uninterrupted walls in a study or home office, creating a focused, library-like atmosphere. In a bedroom, placing this mural wallpaper behind a bed headboard anchors the sleeping area with a warm, enveloping backdrop. The dark walnut tones hold up beautifully under gentle evening lamplight, while generous daylight reveals the finer swirls and knots running through the individual planks.

Styling it

To balance the depth of the dark timber motif, we suggest pairing this design with furniture that has clean, contemporary silhouettes. Low-profile sofas in textured ivory, oat, or charcoal upholstery keep the room feeling open and prevent the dark wall from feeling heavy.

When introducing additional materials, matte black metal accents or warm bronze details on lighting and hardware echo the deeper tones in the grain. We would keep nearby woodwork either distinctly lighter or intentionally painted in a solid shade, letting the rich variation of the wallpaper stand as the main visual texture in the room.

Colour combinations

The design itself is grounded in deep walnut, mocha, and warm sepia brown tones, accented with subtle caramel highlights along the grain lines.

For surrounding walls and woodwork, soft off-whites, warm stone, and gentle pebble greys create an easy, high-contrast pairing that lets the timber motif stand out. If you prefer a richer, more cohesive palette, deep olive greens, warm rust, or muted tobacco shades on adjoining surfaces complement the dark wood tones without competing with the pattern.
