Wallpaper - Grain Clad, White Wash

Our Grain Clad, White Wash wallpaper captures the soft, weathered visual texture of vertical timber panelling in a muted, desaturated palette. The vertical wood grain motifs display gentle whorls, natural knots, and subtle variations in tone, creating an organic rhythm across the wall. Shaded transitions between soft taupe, pale grey, and warm off-white give the planks a lifelike visual depth without introducing heavy contrast. Printed made-to-measure on PVC-free paper with a subtle physical structure, this design brings a calm, architectural quality to modern interiors.

In the room

We find that the vertical orientation of the panelling creates an appealing sense of height, making it particularly effective in rooms with standard or lower ceilings. In a living room or bedroom, it works wonderfully as an accent wall behind a sofa or bed headboard, grounding the space with an understated natural look. Because the contrast between the planks is soft and continuous, our wallpaper also sits comfortably across multiple adjacent walls in a dining area or hallway without overwhelming the space. In areas with plenty of natural daylight, the gentle shifts between grey and pale timber tones reveal delicate details in the grain.

Styling it

To complement the relaxed, weathered character of the timber panelling, we suggest pairing this design with furniture that has clean, contemporary lines. Smooth, painted surfaces or upholstery in neutral linens help balance the visual detail of the wood grain.

In terms of materials, dark metal accents such as black steel or deep bronze provide a sharp, grounding counterpoint to the pale washed boards. If you introduce additional wood in the furniture or flooring, opting for deeper tones like walnut or rich oak creates a deliberate, intentional contrast rather than trying to match the soft grey wash.

Colour combinations

The wallpaper itself features a refined palette of pale grey, washed taupe, chalky beige, and soft off-white. When planning adjacent walls and decorative elements, off-whites with neutral undertones or light greiges flow seamlessly from the design. For a more grounded scheme, deeper charcoal, muted navy, or earthy olive tones on surrounding cabinetry and soft furnishings offer a handsome backdrop that lets the lighter wall take centre stage.
